Route Barrée.   February 2012

Many, many thanks to all those who have sent deposits for next year already.

New

I plan to visit Germany/Luxembourg/Belgium to plan routes in February half term - think of me if it snows !

Wanted - someone to share a room
The single room supplement can be quite an expense, which can be avoided if you are willing to share a room with another participant.  Chris Webber has signed up for every tour and is willing to share a room to avoid the supplement.  If this would be a help to you, please contact me.

Lost en Automne October 21-25 (4 nights Sunday to Thursday departure)
I have been to France and spent four days scouting round the Pas de Calais and Somme regions.  I have now confirmed rooms at the Hermitage Hotel in the centre of Montreuil.  This is a hill top town between Calais and Abbeville.  It is roughly an hour from Calais and a little longer from Dieppe.  I think this will be a very popular alternative to the Vianden October visits of the past five years, being close to the ferry ports.  It is a very comfortable hotel with the benefit of a spa for those who fancy a bit of 'me' time.  There are two big car parks at the rear of the hotel that are out of public view and are watched by CCTV.  Our bikes/cars/vans/trailers will be safe.  The local area offers superb rolling countryside to explore.  I spent 2 days simply driving round to familiarise myself with the area.   It will suit our kind of riding perfectly.  As usual, I have only a limited number of rooms available so please register your interest early.  The possibility to book further rooms exists,  but only if nobody else has already booked them.

Lost in Luxembourg
Our visit in June coincides with an event called the 'Tour de Luxembourg', which is a weekend event organised by a local club.  I have contacted them and hope to meet with the organisers when I visit in February.  I hope to arrange with them to share their lunch venue on either the Saturday or Sunday.  It is a great opportunity to get together with other motorcycle enthusiasts.
Bookings for the Luxembourg tour are coming in quite fast so, if you think you would like to come, please contact me promptly so that I can reserve more rooms before someone else snaps them up.

Details copied over from last month

Lost before the War.  A new tour especially for those with pre 1940 machines - motorcycles or cars.  Based at the lovely Wroxton House Hotel, near Banbury.  I have an allocation of rooms confirmed.  We have the north of Oxfordshire to explore from a very comfortable base.
I have visited the hotel and inspected the rooms and bathrooms.  There are comfortable sitting areas for the evenings and we shall have the use of a beautiful dining room for our meals.
Please note that this hotel has no lift.

Lost in France.  I have been able to hold the tariff for this tour at the same price as last year.  The Hotel les Airelles is right in the centre of Neufchatel en Bray and really convenient for travel from Dieppe and Calais.  Most participants ride from home but there is plenty of parking for trailers or vans adjacent to the hotel.
Please note this hotel has no lift.

Lost in Luxembourg.  This has been our traditional 'season-ender' for the past 5 years.  Now it is time to enjoy the beautiful countryside at a different, warmer, time of year.  I am very pleased to be able to offer 5 nights in June at the lovely Hotel Oranienburg for just £340 per person (£50 single supplement) - no more expensive than this year's low-season visit in October !
This hotel does have a lift and there is plenty of parking.

Lost in Kent (in East Sussex.)  The Brickwall Hotel in Sedlescombe was a great success for our recent Lost in Kent tour and I am looking forward to our return.  The local countryside offers a wide range of landscapes from the Pevensey Levels, the Romney Marsh and the Orlestone Forest.  I am proposing a spring tour and another in autumn to close the UK list of tours.
This hotel has plenty of ground floor rooms.

Lost on Exmoor.  We shall revisit the Blue Ball Inn at Countisbury, near Lynmouth.  We have been made very comfortable here over the last two years and I received a lot of feedback when I announced that I might move the Tour to a new location this time.  I have taken note of the popularity of the Blue Ball and have arranged for our return.
This hotel does not have a lift and all rooms are on the first floor.

Lost en Ardennes.  The village of Ouren enjoys exceptional tranquillity on the banks of the River Our.  The Rittersprung looks out on the riverside meadows.  The region offers exceptional riding on almost deserted roads.  Ouren is just about my favourite place on earth.
This hotel does not have a lift

Lost in the Cotswolds.  Our fourth year in the beautiful Cotswolds and another super hotel in prospect.  I have confirmed a booking with the Frogmill Hotel at Andoversford.  The location just off the A40 approaching Cheltenham puts us right in the heart of the glorious Cotswold countryside

Other tours in preparation include...

Lost en Automne.  As mentioned at the top of the page we finish the tour season in the Nord Pas de Calais / Somme in October.  Our base will be at Montreuil where we have reservations at the Hotel Hermitage - right in the centre of this busy and interesting town.  It is a quality hotel with good facilities.
This hotel has a lift

A simple booking form is available if you would like to send a £50 per person deposit to guarantee your place on any of the 2012 Tours.
